Simon and Mary had 12 children in about 15 years which would suggest that the gaps between baptisms would be about 12 months but in some cases they are much closer than this. This could be due to the family living in Cefn Mawr which is a few miles from Ruabon church and they may have found it difficult to arrange the baptisms. Possibly, an approaching birth may have prompted the baptism of the previous child – particularly if they were not regular members of the church congregation. |
